NOTE:  CAPTOR is designed as a managed app and requires a valid license from Inkscreen and licenses from your company's EMM provider.

Android O/S Support:  10+

FIRST LAUNCH:

The first time you launch CAPTOR, the app will check for secure services running on the device from your company's mobility management platform. CAPTOR will also check in with the Inkscreen license server to validate an active license for your company.

SETTINGS:

Tap the Info button on the top right of the home screen to access the settings menu

  • Username: This field will likely be pre-populated with your email address or user ID.
Caption: Show or hide data related to the photo on the border of the photo (username, time/date, location, and note)
  • Location: Select the type of location data that is displayed on the border of shared media (City/State/Country or Latitude/Longitude).
  • Filename Base:  Sets the file naming system for shared media. CAPTOR automatically appends the date and time of capture to the end of the filename base. File names can be overridden from the Edit screen.

  • PDF Version:  Sets the version for shared PDF files.
  • Delete Trash: Sets the number of days a file will age in the Trash folder before it is automatically deleted from the container.

  • Help: Opens a short help menu with links to contact Inkscreen support, transmit logs, etc.
  • Privacy Policy: opens a website containing the CAPTOR privacy policy.
  • Version:  Displays SDK version and lists all third party licenses used in the application.
  • User Authentication:  If checked, the application will require either a biometric authentication or passcode to access the app.

TAKE A PHOTO or RECORD AUDIO

From the home screen, tapping the button corresponding to the type of media you indent to capture -  Photo or Audio - to initiate a secure capture session.

RECORD VIDEO

From the home screen tap the VIDEO button to record a video. On the recording screen you will see options for flash, capture quality (High, Medium, Low), and the camera switch

The capture quality selector will change the resolution of the video as it is being recorded. This is helpful when capturing long videos that may be challenging to share or backup later. We recommend High for short videos or when the quality is very important, Medium for videos up to 20 minutes, and Low for videos longer than 20 minutes. Please note, you will also have a quality option when you share the video but that is compressing the file that has already been captured. The purpose of the capture quality selector is to provide the flexibility to adjust the quality and resulting size of the file while it is on the device.

DOCUMENT SCANNING:

Doc capture mode allows you to "scan" any paper document to PDF. Follow these steps to capture and process a document:

  1. Tap the option for DOC. Hold the device as level as possible above the page, tap to focus, and tap the capture button. You will be able to adjust the corners of the edge detection. To confirm the page, tap SCAN, and you will be able to add additional pages until complete.
  2. Find the scan on either the home screen or in the Captured folder. Open it to edit the File Name, change the Filter (B&W, Gray, or None) or Share the document as a PDF. If you double-tap on a page you will be able to Edit that specific page (add an annotation, rotate the page, etc).

QR CODE READER:

From the home screen you can launch the QR Code Reader. This will translate a QR code into a URL. The URL will be presented in an alert, giving you the option to cancel or open the web page with a browser.

EDIT/ANNOTATE:

Tap the pen button to expand the photo editing and annotation options.

  • Contrast, Brightness, & Saturation can be adjusted by sliding the ball left or right
  • Rotate image clockwise to the desired orientation
  • Crop the image by aligning the corners or pinch-to-zoom the photo
  • Arrows can be added with color and size selections.
  • Text labels can be added with color and size selections.
  • Drawings can be added with color and size selections.

EDIT AUDIO:

When previewing an audio recording, tap the Trim button to trim the beginning or end of the file.

MEDIA INFO

When viewing photo, video, or audio media, you will notice a small circled "i" button. This is the Info button, which displays important information on the media asset.

  • File Name:  CAPTOR provides a default name for the media you capture, however the name can be changed here.
    Username:  Displays your username
  • Time/Date:  Displays the time and date the media was captured.
  • Location: Displays the GPS location where the photo or video was taken, based on the global location settings. You can override the global location by selecting an option here (City, Lat/Long, or Custom). Custom allows you to enter your own location data in the field above.
  • Note: Enter up to 75 characters in this note field and it will display beneath the location data as well as be passed in the Exif metadata in a field labeled "User Comment"

SHARE FROM EDIT (SINGLE SHARE):

The Share button brings up a dialog box allowing you to share or export media. Your IT administrator may limit the applications with which you can share photos out of CAPTOR.

The Share button initiates a pop-up with the following options:

  1. File Format:  Format options will be presented that correspond to the type of media you are attempting to share. For example, when sharing a photo you will be given the option of JPEG, PDF, and ZIP file formats.
  2. Quality/Resolution:  Select between Low, Medium, and High resolution quality (the File Size Calculator will estimate the file size).
  3. Open In:  Select the app where you would like to share the photo. Your IT administrator may limit the applications with which you can share photos out of CAPTOR.

FOLDERS:

The Folders button on the home screen brings up a list of albums. There are three default folders:

  • Captured:  All of your images and videos will originally go into this album. You can create additional folders by tapping the + button. Tap Edit to rename or delete a folder.
  • Imported:  This feature can be disabled by your IT Administrator. If enabled, you will be able to go into your native media galleries, select photos or videos, tap the Share icon, and select CAPTOR from the list of available apps to share the content to. This action will copy the media into the encrypted CAPTOR container.
  • Trash:  When you delete media, it is actually moved to the Trash folder. You can go into Trash and delete the items to permanently delete the content. Also, your IT Administrator can set a policy to automatically empty the Trash folder once content has been in the folder a specified number of days.

Within a folder, you can delete or move media. A folder view controller button allows you to toggle between "thumbnail view" and "list view".

The magnifying glass button allows you to Search for content. Enter a keyword to search across file names, folder names, text label annotations, and notes.

Tap one or more thumbnails, then tap Delete or Move. Double-tapping a thumbnail opens that media in the edit screen. You can also share select media(s) from the folder view.

If Backup is enabled, you may see a Backup button on the Folder screen. Pressing this will initiate a process to copy all new files to your backup drive. If the Backup is enabled but set to run automatically, you will not see the Backup button and the entire process will occur in the background.

SHARE FROM FOLDER (MULTI-SHARE):

The folder view sharing sequence is:

  1. Tap to select one or more thumbnails within a folder
  2. Tap the Share button
  3. File Format:  Select the appropriate file format. If you are sharing a mix of media types, the only file format will be ZIP. Photos inside the zip archive will be JPG, audio will be M4A, and documents will be PDF.
  4. Quality/Resolution:  Select between Low, Medium, and High resolution quality
  5. Open In:  Select the app where you would like to share the photo. Your IT administrator may limit the applications with which you can share media or documents out of CAPTOR.
